MAY NEWSLETTER
Hi,
I’m hoping to make this a regular monthly newsletter, for as long as I have anything to talk about. I’ll mainly be mentioning whatever projects I’m currently working on, any shows or cons I’ll be attending (or have attended), incoming comics and Kickstarters, general plugs about where you can find my work, and maybe the odd recommendation. The idea is, it’ll be short and sweet, with all the relevant links for where you can find me online or in person.
Throughout April, I’ve been focusing mainly on the Ace - Every Dog Has His Day comic. The Kickstarter successfully funded in early April, and if you’ve seen any of the images so far, you won’t be surprised to hear that this is my unapolagetic shot at a Batman-style book. It’s a scratch I’ve wanted to itch for some time now, and I think it’s one of those projects I had to get out of my system before moving on to the next thing. There are six variant covers - if only because I thought it would look really cool when I have copies to sell at cons. Unlike some of my other books, I’m hoping it’ll be an easier sell for me. I’m generally rubbish at summing up what my books are about, but this one will pretty much speak for itself.
I’ve also just completed a variant cover for Lee Saunders’ Night Ghost issue 2, from Pick-Up Comics. The Kickstarter for this launches very soon, but you can check out the Pre-Launch right now, at the link below -
And you can find a pin-up page I created for Andy J Clarke’s Flux comic series in the latest issue (Part 11). I can’t recommend this series enough. I’ve picked up the first two collections of the story so far, and its become one of my current fave sci-fi comics. You can pick up the whole series from Andy’s website at the link below.
On Saturday 30th May I’ll be exhibiting at the Inkblot Indie Comic Festival in Nottingham. If your’re in the UK, and you live nearby, please do pop by and say hello. It’s a relatively small event, held at the Vat & Fiddle pub, but there are some fantastic creators involved, and I’ll have a whole bunch of comics and original artwork to sell. Check out the link below for more details -
As this Newsletter reaches you, the Kickstarter for Shokwave Book 8 will have just finished. Shokwave is an anthology title featuring the art of David Hitchcock, Adam Jakes, Richard Pester and myself, and all written by John A Short. I draw Anna Key, which is the story of a green-skinned alien girl who finds herself sheriff of a police department on a floating asteroid orbiting a large purple planet out in the deeps of unknown space. If you backed the Kickstarter, then thank you very much! I will very shortly begin working on the artwork for Book 9.
If you didn’t know, I have a Patreon page! On my page you’ll find loads of work in progress pages of whatever I happen to be currently working on, brand new artwork unavailable anywhere else, NEW Switchblade Story pages that look back at the story of Mindy and Darla, as well as the odd bit of the sexy stuffs. You can even grab a 7 day free trial and check out some of the content already on there! It would be really cool to grow this platform and getting more folks checking it out, so please do take a look.
You can check out the Patreon page here -
Have you checked out my Etsy store recently? As well as stocking all of my comics, I’m regularly updating the store with new and old artwork. Don’t see something you like? Then give me a shout!
Thanks for reading and checking out any of the links - you can also find me on Instagram and TikTok!
Cheers,
Chris.
